1. THE METRO

Start special and experience Moscowfirst of all underground. The city’s metro is a standalone attraction. It is one of the busiest and most efficient metro systems in the world. You pay a meager 70 cents each way and can be at the next destination in no time. Belorusskaya, Arbatskaya, and Kievskaja are three examples of stations that are definitely worth a visit. Switch between the various levels via immense escalators and keep your eyes peeled. Nothing is more fun here than people watching!

2)THE BOLSHOI THEATER

The Bolshoi Theater is depicted on the 100 Rubel Russian banknote and is the most important theater in Russia. With Greek columns, the building is the apple of the eye both inside and out. It is home to the largest Ballet and Opera Company in Russia and known for its performances of Romeo and Juliet. To admire the building from the inside, you have to book a performance.

3)THE GUM MOSCOW

Shopping enthusiasts should pay attention: opposite the Kremlin, you will find a large department store that can pass as a palace. This shop Valhalla is called The GUM and you will find about 150 stores. Are you in Moscowaround Christmas? Then take a look. The shopping center, with its three long and three width passages that are interconnected by bridges and galleries, is beautifully illuminated.

4)NOVOSPASSKY MONASTERY

With attractions like Novospassky Monastery, there is no need to worry as to what to see in Moscow. Dating back to the times of the 14th century, Novospassky Monastery happens to be the first monastery established in the heart of Moscow. 

5)SPARROW HILLS

Much famed as the Lenin Hills until 1999, it is a must for every traveler to include a visit to the Sparrow Hills on theirMoscowcity tour. Apart from being the eleventh high-rising structures of the world, the observation deck at Ostankino Tower is the place to be for those who wish to relish the best views of Moscow’sskyline.

7)VYSTAVKA DOSTIZHENENIY NARODNOGO KHOZYAYSTVA

What Pragati Maidan is to Delhi, VDNKh is for Moscow. 8)THE KREMLIN

As the heart of Moscowand one of the icons of Russia, a place not to be missed. The complex of palaces, cathedrals, parliament buildings, parks, and museums of 28 hectares, completely surrounded by city walls, will make an impressive impression on you. Also visit the Armory, the Terem Palace, the Tsar Clock, and the Tsar Cannon.

9)THE RED SQUARE 

Next to the Kremlin, you will find the Red Square. Have your camera ready to capture all the pictures you normally see on TV. Today, authentic Russia is also combined with luxury in this place. There are plenty of trendy wood couture shops for the shop lovers.

10)ST. BASIL’S CATHEDRAL

Another icon is St. Basil’s Cathedral. It is an important eye-catcher with its colorful towers. The exterior, with eight dazzling chapels, is particularly impressive. Enjoy the maze of temples, niches, beautiful statues, and frescoes.

11)THE HISTORICAL MUSEUM 

We will stay at the Red Square for a while. You will find the historical museum on the north side. A must-visit if you want to know everything about the history of Russia. See the statue of Russian warrior Georgy Zhukov, throw a coin over your shoulder, and make a wish.

12)THE ALEXANDER PARK

You can also find history in Alexander Park. Stroll through the fresh air, visit the grave of the Unknown Soldier, and the dozen dark red porphyry blocks. 

 

13)TRETYAKOVSKAYA

Tretyakovskaya Art Gallery has the world-famous collection of Russian painters’ works of art.

14)MOSKVA CITY SKYSCRAPERS

Go to the MoscowInternational Business Center (also knowns as Moskva City) to see the city’s beautiful landscape. Moscow city’s complex of skyscrapers is beautiful by itself, but you can also go up one of the towers for a great overview of the city.

15)IZMAILOVO KREMLIN

Kremlin actually means fortress and there are many kremlins in the city, but please do not confuse it with the main Kremlin at the Red Square.

16)OLD ARBAT AND NEW ARBAT STREETS

One of the oldest streets in the city is Arbat Street, a pedestrian street about one kilometer long in the historical center of Moscow.
