Check out the ingredients of the cream

Nowadays there is more and more control over (potentially) harmful ingredients. Examples include petroleum derivatives, alcohol, foaming agents (soap, sulfates, emulsifiers), and preservatives such as parabens.

It is also important that the right ingredients are in the right proportion. A go get peptides, vitamins (A, B3, C, and E) and glycerin. So always check whether they are high in the list on the packaging.

Choose your day cream

Before choosing a cream, it is useful to know what type of skin you have. Do you have dry, oily, or very sensitive skin? You will search based on this.

Day creams for dry skin

Does your skin feel tight after showering and do you sometimes suffer from flakes? Chances are you have dry skin. You are less affected by pimples because your skin produces less fat, but unfortunately, that also means that your skin is less supple, feels rough, and has lines. Go for a day cream with moisturizing ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid.

Day creams for sensitive skin

Sensitive skin reacts strongly to internal and external influences, for example with red spots, rash, and itching. A gentle approach with mild, perfume-free products is key. Products that state that they are specially intended for sensitive skin are preferred.

Day creams for normal skin

Normal skin has visible but no dilated pores feels soft and has a good moisture/fat balance. You take care of normal skin with a daily product that protects against moisture loss and harmful UV radiation. For example, choose a day cream with SPF 15.

Day creams for oily skin

With oily skin, the sebum production is high, which makes the skin glow quickly. The chance of impurities such as blackheads and pimples is high. Oil-based creams and make-up do not ‘adhere’ very well; an oil-free – but moisturizing – cream is recommended. Look for a day cream with salicylic acid and niacinamide, which will remove dead skin cells and regulate the sebum product.

And of course…

It is good for your skin when you use a cream with the right ingredients, but it is equally important to take good care of your skin from the inside. Your lifestyle, what you eat, and what you drink play a major role in this. Your skin is an important – even the largest – organ you have that needs plenty of exercise and enough sleep. All these factors contribute to radiant, beautiful skin.
